Former Celtic hero Shunsuke Nakamura has landed a coaching role in his homeland.
The ex-Hoops star - who played over 150 times for the Parkhead side - announced his retirement last month at the age of 44 after an illustrious 26-year career. Through out his playing days he scored memorable strikes including his Champions League stunner against Manchester United and a title-clincher against Kilmarnock.
He also featured 98 times for his country, netting 24 goals while he also tasted club football in both Italy and Spain with Reggina and Espanyol. His medal haul includes Scotland's top flight, the Scottish Cup and League Cup in Scotland, the Asian Cup and Japanese Cup. Now he will step into the dugout after his appointment as a 'top team coach' at Yokohama FC - the club he has just called time on his playing career at.

A club statement read: From the 2023 season, Mr. Shunsuke Nakamura will be appointed as the Yokohama FC top team coach."
Nakamura commented: "I am very happy to be able to play as a member of Yokohama FC next season. It has been a great source of inspiration in my football life. I will work hard to be able to do the same.
"I will once again face football from scratch, take on various challenges, repeat failures and successes, and grow. I would like to thank you for your continued support."
The club announcement on social media went down a storm with more than 18,000 likes and over 3000 RTs.
He joined Celtic back in 2005 under Gordon Strachan.
