Celtic hero's son is Clyde's first summer signing

Clyde have made midfielder Ray Grant their first summer signing, bringing him back to the League one club on a two-year deal, and for a second spell.

The former Norwich City youth was at the Bully Wee from 2018 until 2020, but left to join dad Peter at Alloa Athletic in 2020-21, but left alongside the former Celtic star at the end of that season.

A season in League Two with Stirling Albion followed, before returning to the club today.

Grant, 25, first joined Clyde in February 2018 and quickly established himself as an important part of Danny Lennon's side, playing 99 out of 101 games before leaving for Alloa in 2020.

His first game for Clyde, who will ground-share with Hamilton Accies for at least a season, will be his 100th in their colours.

Bully Wee boss Danny Lennon is pleased to bring the midfielder back to the club (SNS Group)

Grant told the club's website: "I'm absolutely delighted to re-join the club and can't wait to get back and going again.

"I really enjoyed my time here before, but I don't want to be remembered for what I did previously - I want to kick on again and hopefully create better times.

"I know I need to come in and work hard to deserve my place in the team and that's exactly what I intend to do. It's a clean slate for everyone and hopefully we can make it a successful season.”

Boss Danny Lennon said: "Every Clyde fan knows that Raymond is a quality player. Comfortable on the ball, a tremendous football brain and great technical ability.

"We know his character and what he brings to the group. Not only am I excited to have him back in a Clyde shirt, I believe he is coming back a better player than when he left.”
