Celtic hero Harry Hood dies at 74 as Glasgow pays tribute to the hat-trick legend

Football legend Harry Hood has passed away aged 74.

Hood became a Celtic hero after scoring a hat-trick at an Old Firm match against Rangers in 1973.

He is the third Celtic player to die in just over a month following Lisbon Lions Billy McNeill on April 22 and Stevie Chalmers a week later on April 29.

Fans and friends took to Twitter to pay tribute to the former Hoops striker.

Celtic Football Club tweeted: "Everyone at #CelticFC is saddened at the death of Harry Hood, who has passed away at the age of 74.  The thoughts and prayers of everyone at the club are with Harry's family and friends at this extremely sad time."

One fan added: "I’m so old I remember seeing Harry Hood play for Clyde! It was my first football match and my dad took me to Dens. My Papa said watch out for Harry Hood. He knew a player."

Another wrote: "RIP Harry Hood. Another great Celt leaves the pitch. Condolences to his family."
