Celtic hero Artur Boruc set to lose £350k in 'own goal' house sale

Celtic hero Artur Boruc is set to take a hit on the property transfer market after putting his Scottish home up for sale for almost £1million.

Polish international Boruc, nicknamed the Holy Goalie, is cutting ties with Scotland 10 years after he left the Hoops.

His sandstone villa in Bearsden, near Glasgow, was built in 1878 and has four bedrooms, three reception rooms and a back garden with goalposts.

Boruc, now with Bournemouth, bought it for £1.3million in 2008 but it’s now available for offers over £950,000.

The sales brochure says the “magnificent” house sits in “arguably the finest location within Bearsden”.

It adds: “The garden is secure for children and dogs and is screened from neighbouring properties by mature trees, thereby offering a high degree of privacy.”

Boruc signed for Celtic in 2005 and won three Scottish league titles, two Scottish Cups and a League Cup in five years at the club. He became a cult hero among Celtic fans and got a rude tattoo of a monkey bending over and the word “Rangers” inked around his navel.

He also played for Fiorentina and Southampton after leaving Glasgow.

A source said: “Artur has been renting the house out ever since moving clubs.”

Agents Town & Country declined to comment.
