Hall of Fame Boston Celtics point guard Bob Cousy is getting a statue in his adopted hometown of Worcester, Massachusetts per the Associated Press. The statue honoring the Celtic and Holy Cross great will be unveiled at the Digital Federal Credit Union Center in downtown Worcester to honor the basketball legend in the city he’s called home for over seven decades now.
The 92-year-old retired floor general has received countless honors and awards over the decades, most recently a Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2019. He will have an impressive crowd on hand for the dedication taking place this Friday, June 18, including former teammate Tom Sanders, Celtics owners Wyc Grousbeck and Steve Pagliuca, Gov. Charlie Baker, Worcester Mayor Joseph Petty and City Manager Edward Augustus.
His daughters will also be in attendance.

A six-time NBA champion and 13-time All-Star among many other honors, Cousy is a most worthy candidate for a statue immortalizing him in the city where his basketball career began.
