Celtic goalkeeper Conor Hazard signs for Dundee on emergency loan

Dundee have moved swiftly to avert a goalkeeping crisis by signing Celtic shotstopper Conor Hazard on an emergency loan.

The Championship club were forced to move after regular number one Jack Hamilton was struck down by appendicitis.

Dundee boss James McPake revealed Hamilton has undergone surgery to remove his appendix leaving only youngsters Calum Ferrie and Harrison Sharp as options between the sticks.

Hazard will now go straight into the squad for Friday's trip to face Ayr United . The Northern Ireland internationalist spent time on loan in the Championship with Falkirk and Partick Thistle in the past two seasons.

McPake said: “It’s very frustrating for Jack and the team. He has been fantastic this season and is a big player in our dressing room.”

“We have had to act quickly and I’m delighted that we have been able to get someone of Conor’s quality in.”

“He is a player who has played in this league over the past two seasons and also has experience of playing at international level.”
