Celtic frustration for Caledonian Braves as boss admits side should have taken points off young Hoops

Caledonian Braves boss Ricky Waddell has East Kilbride in his sights after pushing Celtic ‘B’ close in their Lowland League clash on Saturday.

The Parkhead reserves ran out 3-2 winners at Alliance Park, with Ben Wylie and Joey Dawson giving them a 2-0 interval lead.

Marc Kelly pulled a goal back from a corner, and Tsoanelo Letsosa restored the visitors’ lead before Rhys Armstrong gave Braves hope.

Waddell felt they deserved at least a point from the game, but says they’ll dust themselves down before Chris Aitken’s side come calling this weekend.

He said: “I thought we deserved a draw at least. In the first half we weren’t at our best, but we were still OK.

“They scored a couple of good goals from their point of view, so it wasn’t like they were mistakes, but at half-time I fixed a couple of things tactically that they weren’t quite doing as well as we wanted them to.

“We were brilliant in the second half; we were aggressive, and if it wasn’t for an absolute worldy save and we hit the bar as well, we probably could have had a draw, if not a win, so I’m a bit disappointed.

“We’re looking to build on that, going into the East Kilbride game.

“They have good players, they’ve picked up from where they were at the start of the season but it’s another home game for us, another challenge. We’ll go positive and try to win.”
