Celtic forced to reroute bus parade after supporters block the streets

Celtic had to reroute their bus parade after supporters blocked the streets.

The Hoops had planned to head through the Gallowgate and Saltmarket but the bus was unable to get through and they had to make an alteration to the planned procession.

It means thousands of fans who had gathered in the area missed the opportunity to see their heroes during the parade.

A statement from Celtic said:“Due to safety concerns, the bus parade, on the advice of Police Scotland, had to be rerouted. There were numerous supporters on the road and the safety of our fans will always be our priority.

“While this is unfortunate, it is outwith our control and we hope to have another event in the near future to celebrate today’s momentous occasion.”

The club had earlier issued a warning on Twitter asking fans to get off the road but it appears that the message wasn't heeded.

The tweet had said: "URGENT # TrebleTreble BUS PARADE UPDATE! Fans gathering on Saltmarket and Gallowgate are URGED to get off the road otherwise the Parade will not be able to go ahead as the bus will not be able to pass through"

Crowds had gathered to witness the parade after Celtic's historic treble Treble after they beat Hearts 2-1.
