Celtic flop Charly Musonda suffers another career setback in latest loan spell

Celtic flop Charly Musonda has been ruled out for the rest of the season while on loan at Vitesse Arnhem.

The Chelsea midfielder suffered a knee injury for the second season in a row and he's been limited to just four games in two Dutch loan spells.

The latest injury - which has only now been confirmed as a knee problem - will see him return to London for treatment.

The 22-year-old spent six months at Celtic in what was supposed to be an 18-month loan deal before it was ended due to his lack of playing time under Brendan Rodgers.

He managed just four appearances during that spell also and was heavily criticised in Belgium for his attitude.

Musonda is highly-rated at Stamford Bridge and has made seven first team appearances for the club.

He had a successful loan spell in Spain with Real Betis in 2016/17 but has struggled since leaving the La Liga side.

In August, Musonda spoke about his time at Celtic and didn't hold any ill-feeling towards the club.

He told the Independent : “It was very, very difficult.

“It’s something you have to get over and try to not let it change you, but it was a very sad moment. It’s not like in six months I became a bad player.

"But when you’re a player who expresses yourself and has that bit of arrogance, criticism goes hand in hand.

"People say things like ‘he’s unprofessional’ but that’s football, people are always going to talk. It’s up to me to make things happen."
