Celtic flop Amido Balde slaughtered but boss tells irate fans he's 'trying his best'

Former Celtic striker Amido Balde is coming under fire in Indonesia as fans of new club Persebaya Surabaya have launched a campaign to get him out.

The Hoops flop has lived a nomadic existence since leaving Parkhead and joined the Liga 1 side at the start of 2019.

Balde was an unmitigated disaster at Celtic and scored just three goals in 24 appearances under Neil Lennon . He had his Parkhead contract terminated in 2015.

Sojourns in France, Portugal and Albania haven't worked and now Balde faces a fight to save his career in Asia.

Supporters of Persebaya have started a '#BaldeOut' crusade despite the forward netting four goals on his debut.

But his bright start came against lower level opposition and is now struggling to make any sort of impact against other top-level teams.

Balde's manager Djadjang Nurdjaman admits the striker's form is a real worry but is urging supporters to stay calm.

Nurdjaman said: "I hope not to panic. I feel bad about defending Balde.

"But let's think positively, he's still new and also needs time,

"He has tried to show the best, we see the opponent is also difficult to guard him.

"There are still many things that need to be addressed such as his physical and emotional development."
