Celtic flag flown above City Chambers in George Square as investigation is launched

An investigation has been launched after a Celtic flag was raised above Glasgow City Chambers.

A prankster managed to fly a Celtic nine-in-a-row flag above the council headquarters on Friday.

The Celtic fan scaled the landmark building in George Square to replace the usual Saltire with the team's green and white flag.

After around 15 seconds, the flag was taken down and the Saltire was put back in place.

Glasgow City Council have described the incident as 'inappropriate'.

A Glasgow City Council spokeswoman said: “This is inappropriate. It should not have happened and we are investigating.”

Tory councillor Thomas Kerr tweeted: “Concerned to see a Celtic flag being flown from the city chambers this morning."
