Celtic fired 'strange times' warning as plucky Reykjavik star makes emphatic statement of Champions League intent

Confident KR Reykjavik star Pablo Punyed has warned Celtic they could face Champions League squeaky bum time because 'odd things happen in football'.

The El Salvador international is adamant his side will be no pushovers when they arrive in Scotland next week for the one-off closed doors tie.

Celtic will be rusty after having to postpone games against St Mirren and Aberdeen after Boli Bolingoli broke quarantine rules to visit Spain.

And 30-year-old Punyed - who played against Celtic previously in a Champions League qualifier five years ago when he was with Icelandic rivals Stjarnan - reckons Neil Lennon 's side should be wary of KR.

He said: "Of course it's a difficult game for us, but it's the Champions League and there aren't any easy games.

"We have to play Celtic in a one-off game in Scotland in front of an empty stadium.

"But I think this completely changes the way the game is played. We don't have to worry about keeping it tight for the home leg or not conceding too many goals away from home.

"The entire tactical set-up of the match changes because it is a one-off tie. I think it could be a close, nervous match.

"KR have played Celtic before and I played against them for Stjarnan. They are a very well-known club in Iceland.

"We will have a lot of respect for them, but we certainly don't fear them.

"In these strange times, odd things happen in football too. Many approaches to games don't necessarily work as well and anything can happen in a one-off game."
