Celtic fans to appear in TV documentary as Green Brigade set for starring role

A new documentary is set to released following Celtic's passionate support.

Al Jazeera will detail the history of the Premiership champions and follow the Green Brigade and other fan groups to demonstrate their strong connection with the club.

Hoops legend and Lisbon Lion John Fallon will be interviewed along with celebrity fan Ilir Meta, the Albian President.

Activism and politics is a common theme throughout the film as Celtic's solidarity with Palestine is highlighted. It was mostly filmed in Belfast and there will be also footage from the Europa League win over Lazio in 2019.

Filmmaker Jamie Doran is looking forward to showcasing that Celtic is not just a football club, but a 'movement' through the fans' eyes.

He said: "Before making this film, I had been unaware that it was illegal for decades to fly the Irish tricolor in the North.

"To assert that part of their identity, nationalists had to travel to Glasgow, to Celtic Park, where they found freedom to express their Irishness.

"The ethos of highlighting the cause of the oppressed that runs through the veins of Celtic fans stems from those roots.

"And however much the current board at Celtic might object to the following comment, the reality is that this is not a football club, it is a ‘movement’."
