Celtic fans launch firework on to pitch during St Mirren clash and Vaclav Hladky gets a real fright

Celtic fans launched a firework on to the pitch following their second goal against St Mirren - and Vaclav Hladky got a real fright.

Ryan Christie's deflected effort put the Hoops 2-0 to the good and supporters chucked the missile on to the pitch next to St Mirren keeper Hladky.

The Czech stopper clutched his ear as the firework went off in next to him.

Hladky did not appear to be struck by any object but instead was affected by the firework setting off in close proximity to him.

Celtic star Christie was also startled by the incident as the Hoops picked up another three Premiership points.

The Hoops midfielder later spoke of his shock at the incident. Christie said: "It’s disappointing and came at the wrong time.

"It’s hard to stop though. I feel for their goalkeeper as it fell right beside him. It can definitely injure him and cause serious injury to his hearing or whatever. Hopefully he’s OK."

Timothy Weah opened the scoring early in the first-half, directing a header off the bar that bounced down and over the line.

Olivier Ntcham later missed a first-half spot kick with Hladky diving low to deny the Frenchman.

The result keeps Celtic 13 points clear at the league summit.
