Celtic fans in Roy Keane frenzy as Micah Richards stirs the pot with cryptic Tweet

There's something of a Roy Keane frenzy brewing.

Celtic 's hunt for a new manager has been shrouded in mystery with candidates coming and going seemingly on a daily basis.

Principal shareholder Dermot Desmond broke his silence on the recruitment process earlier this week but offered little in the way of clues.

However, momentum has built behind Manchester United legend Keane in recent days, starting with a ringing endorsement from Martin O'Neill at the weekend followed by a sudden surge at the bookies.

One report has claimed Celtic had even opened talks with the Irishman, who spent a brief spell at the club in 2006.

Keane has been out of management since departing Ipswich Town in 2011. He's spent time coaching with Ireland, Aston Villa and Nottingham Forest but it's been on Sky Sports he's carved out a role as a pundit very much in the mould of the 'no prisoners' style with which he captained United for 12 illustrious years.

He's formed an unlikely double act with former Manchester City star Micah Richards, with his jovial style mixed with Keane's hard-edge proving a hit with viewers.

It's why Richards' cryptic Tweet amid all this Parkhead speculation has caught the attention of Celtic fans.

His very carefully chosen GIF - The Office's Michael Scott in a frenzy screaming 'it's happening' - has led to an inevitable conclusion among supporters.

The reaction was, shall we say, mixed.

@Stephen53704822: "As long as you come too - that’s fine with us"

_KianH8: "All celtic fans behind Keano"

@GarethMcGowan3: "Tell me you're at the wind up"

CFCDan: "People really getting worked up over this? How gullible is our fanbase ahahaha"

sam_thompson24: "Would love Keane and Micah partnership"

MrCliftonville: "My sanity is being pushed to the absolute limit."

TheDhogsB: "He’s winding everyone up. He knows this will send Celtic fans into a meltdown. It’s just a right laugh. Please."

Of course, like plenty of supporters point, Richards could certainly be stirring the social media pot.

If that was indeed his aim, it's certainly worked.
