Celtic fans ignore lockdown rules and gather outside Hampden ahead of Scottish Cup Final

Celtic fans have gathered at Hampden to welcome the team bus ahead of today's Scottish Cup Final despite lockdown rules.

The Hoops are looking to secure a quadruple treble with a victory against Hearts.

And supporters have congregated at the national stadium ahead of kick-off, ignoring advice to avoid crowded areas.

Several hundred fans have appeared with banners and flags while Police Scotland are also at the scene with officers patrolling the area.

The final was delayed as last season was curtailed due to the pandemic, but no fans are allowed to attend the fixture this afternoon due to the rising figures of the virus.

Nicola Strugeon placed the whole of Scotland into tier 4 from Boxing Day, reducing time allowed with family to just one day after a new strain of covid hit the South of England.

Glasgow remains in tier 3 until December 26, but Celtic fans still ignored advice by turning up at Hampden.

Government advice reads: "It’s against the law for more than six people, or people from more than two households, to meet socially. This applies both outdoors, like in a private garden or a park, and in indoor public places like restaurants, pubs or cafés."
