Celtic fans hope for Sarajevo salvation from club TV as Europa League showdown raises blackout fears

Celtic fans will not be able to watch their crucial Europa League clash with Sarajevo as things stand – with no broadcaster currently showing the playoff.

Neil Lennon 's side take on the Bosnian champions on Thursday as they look to reach the group stage of the competition in a one-off game.

On Tuesday morning though there was no broadcaster signed up to show the match, with Celtic fans desperate to watch their heroes.

Premier Sports have shown previous qualifiers but the pay TV channel will not carry the match.

In response to questions from fans on Twitter, Premier Sports announced: "Unfortunately we won't be showing this game on Thursday."

Rumours that Eurosport would show the match have also been shot down, with the broadcaster instead providing online text coverage.

BT Sport are the rights holders for the Champions League and Europa League from the group stage onward so the match could yet be shown on one of their channels.

They're currently scheduled to show Major League Baseball in that time slot.

Celtic have shown previous rounds to domestic viewers live on their own in-house television channel and will look to broadcast from Sarejevo if the rights are not picked up.

As things stand though the game is not listed among the upcoming live fixtures, and the club's supporters liaison officer has indicated that no decision has yet been made.

John Paul Taylor wrote on Twitter: "Still not clear on what's happening for Thursday.

"Will update later today as soon as I know more."
