Celtic fans hit out at cost of football with banner at Hamilton

Celtic fans have hit out at the people running Scottish football.

In the wake of a report that laid bare the eye-watering cost of going to games, the supporters unveiled a banner at New Douglas Park that criticised prices.

It read: "Overcharging the fans ... underselling the game". Celtic are playing Hamilton in Lanarkshire and tickets for away fans were priced at around £22.

The BBC earlier this week released their annual price of football dossier that listed costs of season tickets, cups of tea, match programmes and pies.

Ironically, Hamilton is the cheapest away day in the Premiership , according to the report. It stated an outlay of £27.50 comprises admission, a programme and a pie and cuppa.

Rangers is the most expensive at £37.80, with Celtic next (£35.40).

The Ibrox club also has the dearest season ticket at £724.

The average top-flight away day comes in at £24.26 – and that’s before transport, of course.
