Celtic fans have mixed feelings over Steven Fletcher with striker believed to be in talks

Celtic fans have mixed feelings over the potential signing of Steven Fletcher.

The 33-year-old striker is a free agent after leaving Sheffield Wednesday in June, and Record Sport report that the club have offered him a one-year deal.

Some fans believe he would be a worthwhile signing as backup for Odsonne Edouard, but others are concerned that his arrival might be at the expense of more high-profile signings.

Here's what some of those Celtic supporters have been saying.

"If we are saying Fletcher is a better option than Bayo, our expectations are very low btw" - @mark_walker67

"In isolation, Steven Fletcher would be a good signing for Celtic. Gives us something different up front and everyone who talks about him in football says he's a good player. That being said, you want headliners going into the 10, so hopefully there's more to come" - @Fitzy_072

"I've not got an issue with signing Fletcher, IF we can keep Eddy. And if Klimala continues the way he is going that would do me. No idea if we will have a fit Griff. If it's to replace Eddy though they can f*** off" - @Rocknrollstar13

"Wanting a signing that bad I'll even celebrate Steven Fletcher coming in as backup" - @AJThoms214

"Who's next? Kenny Miller? Scott McDonald? Absolute joke" - @colin72787965

"Fletcher's the kind of guy that gets you a winner at Livingston" - @BigIrishcelt

"Steven Fletcher would be an improvement on Bayo, which isn't saying a lot. The worry is that we're bringing him in instead of Ajeti/Toney. If we bring him and one other in, then fine. If it's at the expense of a quality striker then it defies all logic of the past few weeks" - @marcmcardle1

"I paid my season ticket money to go towards a new contract for Edouard not towards a wage packet for Steven Fletcher" - @oranstorrie99
