Celtic fans get 'null and void' trending as they turn tables on Rangers battle cry

Null and void.

During the last nationwide lockdown, that was some Rangers' fans rallying cry when the SPFL scrambled for a resolution to a season left in pieces by the Covid-19 pandemic.

With Steven Gerrard's side suffering a late collapse, they trailed Celtic by 13 points and supporters believed finishing the season early or playing out the remaining games would lead to an undesirable outcome.

Of course, we know how it turned out. Neil Lennon's men were awarded a ninth title on the spin with eight games to go, the legitimacy of which is still questioned on the other half of the city to this day.

But 10 months on, with First Minister Nicola bringing back a stage of full-blown lockdown in Monday's bombshell announcement, the tables have well and truly turned.

And those infamous three words were climbing Twitter's trending charts by the time the decision makers at Holyrood shuffled out of the chamber.

But this time, it was Celtic supporters - perhaps with their tongues kept firmly in cheek - pleading for the season to be scrapped.

With their club trailing Rangers by 19 points in the Scottish Premiership, 'null and void' had climbed to 18th in Glasgow's trend table.

It swiftly followed in the footsteps of 'Dubai', which had claimed top spot for much of the day due to the Hoops' controversial trip.
