Celtic fans direct banner at Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos during 4-0 win over Motherwell

Celtic fans aimed a banner at Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos during their side's 4-0 win over Mothwerwell on Wednesday night.

Goals from Leigh Griffiths and Callum McGregor and a double from Odsonne Edouard gave the Hoops victory at Fir Park.

A banner was unveiled in the Celtic end emblazoned with the words 'MEJORATE PRONTO ALFREDO' - meaning 'get well soon Alfredo', reports The Daily Record.

The banner could be a direct reference to one Rangers fans infamously directed at then- Kilmarnock manager Steve Clarke back in February.

The current Scotland boss was subject to a 'get well soon, Steve Clarke' jibe after he had complained about sectarian chanting from sections of the Rangers support.

The use of Spanish in the banner may also be a subtle nod to the recent situation involving a poorly-translated interview with Sky Sports which has dominated the headlines.

The news outlet have recently apologised after attributing quotes to the striker which accused sections of the Celtic support of using racist slurs, quotes which were later found by the Daily Record to be misleading and in some cases false.

They have since taken responsibility, publishing a separate, corrected translation which heavily differs from the original.
