Celtic fans all say the same thing after failed Ivan Toney transfer bid

Celtic have failed with a £5million bid for Peterborough striker Ivan Toney, according to reports.

The English League One side's owner Darragh MacAnthony revealed a Scottish side had put in an offer for the striker, with Celtic and Rangers both linked with the striker this summer

And the Daily Record claims it was Celtic who tabled the bid, but it has been knocked back.

McAnthony tweeted: “Look, we have had multiple bids for him from Prem/Champ & one from Scotland.

“As expected, I won’t go into who etc as that’s private.

“As of today he is still our player.”

Neil Lennon is keen to add another striker in the transfer window with the club also on the verge of signing Albian Ajeti on loan from West Ham.

But Celtic fans fear that if the Hoops are successful in bringing the pair to Parkhead, that can only mean one thing - Odsonne Edouard will be sold.

@brendanbhoy said: "Surely if we sign Ivan Toney/Albian Ajeti, that means Edouard is off. No sign of a new contract, and transfer window open until October. Lawwell wouldn’t be able to resist that kind of profit on a player."

@BhoyFergy added: "I’ll never grief Pete Lawwell again if we sign Ivan Toney and keep Édouard. Can’t see it happening but we’d be unstoppable."

@seanmarkus_67 tweeted: "I like Ivan Toney but please not at the expense of Edouard. PLEASE."

@Kiwi_181 said: Eddy's off if that's true."

@TheTweetofShaun added: "I doubt we have bid for Ivan Toney and Ajeti. Only one will be true. I suspect Toney is signing for them."
