Celtic fan protest focus shift as Covid-compliant stand to go ahead despite club warning

The Celtic Trust plan to go ahead with their 'Covid-compliant' protest ahead tomorrow as they focus their rage at the club board.

The fan group claimed earlier this week they have been working with the club and police to arrange a demonstration to allow fans to express their views.

The Parkhead hierarchy revealed earlier this week they would meet with the Trust, but warned against the protest prior to the game.

They warned supporters there could be "legal and safety" repercussions if the planned demonstration went ahead.

With less than 24 hours until the latest stand is due to take place, the supporter organisation urged fans to focus their fury at the likes of Dermot Desmond and Peter Lawwell before kick-off in the Kilmarnock game on Sunday.

This comes with Neil Lennon and the players set to arrive at Parkhead as the same time as the protest takes place as they look to build on the Europa League win over Lille in midweek.

A Trust statement on Twitter read: "We were advised by the police yesterday that the assurances from Celtic that the demonstration would not coincide with the team's arrival were 'incorrect'.

"We we call on everyone who attends tomorrow to show support for the team and to focus their justifiable anger on the board."

Some fans have criticised the decision to go ahead with the protest after Celtic 's victory over the Ligue 1 side as the Hoops look to close the 13-point gap on Rangers with a win over Killie.
