Celtic fan firefighter paid poignant You'll Never Walk Alone tribute after death

A group of Scots firefighters have paid a poignant tribute to their Celtic-daft colleague after his sudden death.

Kane McGinley tragically lost his life after emergency services were called to the River North Esk at Beeslack in Midlothian on Friday April 24.

He was just 25-years-old and police are treating his passing as non-suspicious.

Last night, his colleagues stood to attention outside the Penicuik fire station with their heads bowed as You'll Never Walk Alone played in the background.

An appliance behind them also had it's blue lights turned on.

In a clip uploaded to Twitter, they said: "Penicuik fire station paying tribute to FF Kane McGinley. He will be sadly missed #RIPKane #NeverForgotten."

And they were joined by heartbroken friends and family in the town, as hundreds of locals wearing the green and white of Celtic came out to sing the anthem in honour of Kane.

A fundraising drive set up in his name has since raised over £10,000.

Uploading a video of the scene on Facebook, Scott Knight said: "Everybody turned up to show there appreciation for u Kano.

"Never in my life have I experienced something like that. It was a bit of class from the people of Penicuk.

"And to raise over £10,000 in one day for his family is unbelievable".

Reacting to Penicuik Fire Station's video, the Fire Brigade Union Scotland tonight said: "An incredibly moving tribute to Brother Kane McGinley from fellow firefighters at Penicuik Fire Station.

"Our thoughts and condolences are with Kane’s family, friends and colleagues. Rest in peace Brother."
