Celtic face SPFL probe sweat over 'sad Orange b*****d' Derek McInnes chant

Celtic could face an SPFL probe after their fans again targeted Aberdeen boss Derek McInnes with sectarian abuse.

The Dons manager had to watch yesterday’s match from the stand after being banned for reacting to abuse from the Hoops support in the Scottish Cup semi-final at Hampden.

But they repeated their “sad orange b*****d’ chant at him yesterday and MailSport understands it will feature in the league delegate’s report.

The club will be asked to respond but are unlikely to be punished with few options open to the SPFL.

Celtic boss Neil Lennon said of the abuse: “I am disappointed to say the least. I am disappointed."

Neil Lennon blasts Celtic fans' 'sad Orange b*****d' chants towards Derek McInnes

“I am disappointed for Derek, because I know what a great guy he is, he is a great football man with great integrity.

“I am sorry he wasn’t in the dugout today.

"I am a huge admirer of what he has done this year, and what he has done previously.”

McInnes confirmed after the game on Saturday he had heard the chant again, recognising it so well because he has been "hearing it for years".

He said: "It is not if I hear it, that is not the question, the question should be are other people hearing it?

"The biggest surprise would have been if I had not heard it today, as you all know so it is what it is.

"There has been a missed opportunity to send out the right message.

"I served my punishment today and I will be back in the dugout next week."
