Celtic face further Covid scare wait as Norway star tests positive for virus

Celtic face a nervous wait to discover if Kristoffer Ajer or Moi Elyounoussi will be deemed a close contact of Omar Elabdellaoui after the defender tested positive for coronavirus.

The Hoops pair are in the Norway squad alongside Elabdellaoui and it's been confirmed that he has the virus.

They are yet to say whether any other members of the squad will be forced to isolate but Celtic will be desperate for the duo to avoid any issues after their squad was decimated with Covid last month.

Following the last international break, Odsonne Edouard, Ryan Christie, Nir Bitton and Hatem Abd Elhamed were all forced to miss games for Celtic.

Edouard, Bitton and Elhamed all tested positive while Christie was a close contact of Scotland pal Stuart Armstrong.

Norway's game against Israel earlier this week was also postponed because of a Covid issue with a member of the Israeli squad testing positive.

Shane Duffy's Republic of Ireland team-mate Alan Browne has also contracted the virus, but the Football Association of Ireland has confirmed that no other players have had to isolate.

Neil Lennon's men face a huge game against Hibs at Easter Road next weekend when they return from the break.
