Celtic face Covid sweat as AC Milan duo test positive after Parkhead clash

AC Milan have confirmed two players who played  against Celtic have tested positive for Covid-19.

Goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma and goalscorer Jens Petter Hauge both returned positive tests while three other members of staff also have the virus.

Milan say all five are asymptomatic but the development  will be on Celtic's radar after they faced the Italian giants in the Europa League on Thursday night.

The Serie A leaders are due to play their first game since that victory at Parkhead on Monday night against Roma at the San Siro.

A statement from the club said: "AC Milan announces that the results received from the laboratory yesterday evening found a positive swab by Gianluigi Donnarumma, Jens Petter Hauge and three other members of the team group. All are asymptomatic, were immediately subjected to home isolation and the local health authorities were informed.

"Today the whole team group was tested again, as per protocol, and no new positivity was found."

Celtic have been hit with a slew of Covid problems in recent weeks with Odsonne Edouard, Nir Bitton and Hatem Abd Elhamed all testing positive for the virus.

Ryan Christie also missed game time after being told to self-isolate by local authorities after being deemed a close contact of Stuart Armstrong during the international break.
