UEFA have confirmed that Norway have forfeited their Nations League match with Romania, after a positive Covid test prevented Moi Elyounoussi, Kristoffer Ajer and their international team-mates from travelling to Romania.
The Celtic duo's international team-mate Omar Elabdellaoui tested positive ahead of the Nations League clash, which was due to take place on Sunday.
Neil Lennon 's side put out a statement confirming that both players were able to continue training and taking part in matches, but Norway were unable to travel to fulfil the fixture.
Now, UEFA have confirmed that Norway have forfeited - resulting in a 3-0 defeat that puts their League B chances in serious jeopardy.
A statement from the UEFA Appeals Body confirmed the following decision: “To declare the 2020/21 UEFA Nations League match between Romania and Norway, that was scheduled to be played on 15 November 2020, as forfeited by the Norwegian Football Association (who is therefore deemed to have lost the match 3-0) for being responsible for the match not taking place."
Ajer and Elyounoussi will be available to face Hibs at Easter Road this weekend.
As a result of the 3-0 victory awarded to Romania, Northern Ireland have been relegated to League C of the Nations League.
The result leaves them six points adrift at the bottom of the group, with just one match left to play.
Norway, meanwhile, have been scrambling to put together a B-team to face Austria on Wednesday night. Anything other than a victory will see them finish as runners up in Group E.
