Celtic drop huge Ange Postecoglou hint as club announcement points to extended stay

Celtic have dropped a hint Ange Postecoglou's 12-month rolling contract is set to run on amid their big reveal of the Australian's homecoming.

The November trip comes around is set to take place during the winter World Cup and Parkhead boss Postecoglou revealed it'll be the first time he returns home in almost three years by that time.

Rangers could also be involved in the 'four team tournament' unveiled on Tuesday afternoon by the current Premiership league leaders.

That is subject to confirmation from the Ibrox club, yet the rumours of a derby being played outside Scotland have led to criticism from sections of both fanbases.

However Hoops fans are finding a silver lining to the announcement – as the way the friendlies are being marketed makes it seem certain Postecoglou will be sticking around for the long haul.

In June of last year the Celtic board confirmed they were sticking with a decade’s-old practice of 12 month rolling contracts for their manager, a template that has only been deviated from once in recent memory in order to tie down Brendan Rodgers for longer.

Postecoglou was no exception to the rule but by marketing the November trip as his 'homecoming', and including quotes of his excitement for the trip, many believe that's a sign he's getting an extension soon enough.

He said: "It is a homecoming in many respects. That’s where my roots are, that’s where I grew up and I know that since I’ve been in this position at Celtic, people have been following my journey, whether they know me or not, and I’ll have a great sense of pride going back to Australia as manager of Celtic."
