Celtic diehards miss the message as they arrive for Parkhead party

Jubilant Celtic supporters will cherish the day they secured the quadruple Treble despite things being anything but normal.

The pandemic means the chances of a Scottish Cup open top bus parade were non-existent but some supporters still couldn't resist heading to Hampden before the game.

And a few Celtic diehards also made the pilgrimage to Parkhead in the wake of the win over Hearts but missed the message from the club to stay clear of the stadium.

A selection of them also posed for a quick photo on the Celtic Way only three weeks after a section of the support gathered at the same spot to let rip at Neil Lennon after the Betfred Cup defeat to Ross County.

But it was smiles rather than recriminations this time as a host of supporters were in the vicinity of the stadium.

The club urged fans to stay away from the stadium as they looked to avoid breaches of social distancing.

An official club address stated: "For clarification, the Celtic FC team bus will NOT be returning to Celtic Park this evening.

"We ask supporters not to gather outside the stadium. Thank you for your co-operation."

The club's home has been the place to be in recent seasons for fans to flock to after a big win.

Some supporters gathered outside Hampden before and after to offer their heroes a pyro-fuelled welcome despite restrictions.

And Neil Lennon admitted after the game that there was no time to party ahead of their crunch clash with Ross County on Wednesday night.

He said: "They get no respite though, it's almost like they don't get to be there but we're going to try and get them back down to earth over the next couple of weeks.

"I think so (pressure being eased), everyone expecting it, you can see that, Cup Finals and trophies aren't easy to win.

"Sometimes people make it look easy but it's not easy to win. You'll never see that again."
