Celtic defender Kris Ajer linked with West Brom and why move could depend on Shane Duffy transfer

Kris Ajer is being linked with a move to West Brom, and the potential switch could hinge on Celtic's pursuit of Shane Duffy.

The Baggies are tooling up ahead of their return to the English Premier League next month, and Slaven Billic is in the market for a new central defender.

He has reportedly identified Shane Duffy as an option, however a move might be difficult to pull off as Brighton are reluctant to sell to a rival.

And according to The Athletic, West Brom reckon Ajer could be a good alternative, although Celtic are unlikely to want to sell on the cheap with a £20million asking price widely reported.

Neil Lennon is of course keen to bring Duffy to Parkhead and this deal could accelerate the Baggies' pursuit of Ajer.

The Norwegian defender has been linked with Leicester City and AC Milan this summer, although Celtic are reluctant to let him go.

So far as incomings go, the Parkhead club are understood to be nearing a £3million transfer for Motherwell midfielder David Turnbull, and the deal could even be completed this week.
