Celtic cynics claim handball penalty award was all part of cunning VAR ploy to help Rangers - Hotline

We do love a conspiracy theory in this part of the world. So here's this week's. The two dodgy decisions Celtic have had in the past week - not conceded a penalty against Kilmarnock at Hampden AND getting one against Morton on Saturday are all part of a masterplan by RANGERS-biased officials to try to show they are not against the Parkhead club, and having done so, they can now get back to giving the Ibrox outfit everything. You read it here first, folks.

John Melrose, Edinburgh , said: "What a coincidence that Celtic fans on social media were saying all week that we would be given an undeserved penalty against Morton and then, hey presto, it happens. Now that the cup smokescreen is over, our Rangers biased VAR officials can get back to the business of chasing that Champions League £40m for their favourite club, what a farce!"

Henry Moffat, Stirling, said: "Interesting that the video assisting Rangers officials deemed Efe Ambrose's handball a penalty when it wasn’t in a game they already knew we would win anyway. The two decisions we have been given in cup games will allow them the breathing space they needed to continue to influence Rangers bid for guaranteed Champions League cash."

Irwin Houston, Giffnock , said: "So Celtic are now getting all the VAR decisions in their favour after all their vociferous calls by their manager, Celtic pundits and players complaining that everyone and VAR are against them. Is there any coincidence that Lawwell is back at Parkhead creating all this paranoia nonsense in the background?"

But Chris Lowe, Yoker, isn't buying it. He said: "So long as the SFA continues to turn a blind eye to Celtic FC continually bringing the game into disrepute with the innuendo laden conspiracies about referees then the likes of Clancy and Collum are only to happy to oblige. How Clancy can give that penalty to Celtic after a VAR review is a joke. For the integrity of the game neither of these two should be anywhere near next month's cup final given their decisions over the past week all going one way as usual."

David Wallace, Neilston, emailed: "After Celtic's complaints about decisions not going their way that's two big decisions gone their way against Kilmarnock and Morton. Two disgraceful decisions."

Dunfermline fan Craig Robertson emailed: "I just watched the highlights of Celtic v Morton and have to ask: 'Would that have been a Morton penalty?' Something is seriously wrong with our officials, VAR and governing bodies if that was deemed a penalty."

William Hutchison, Aberdeen, said: "I agree that Celtic penalty wasn't a pen...but before everyone jumps on Celtic again of getting everything handed on to them on a plate, if they watched the game not one Celtic player appealed for the first one - it was the ref's decision and he got it wrong. We appealed but didn't get it as again that was also not a pen. I'm just glad we got the other goals to make sure."

Benjamin Clarke, Balornock said: "VAR is definitely killing the game here, when you look at the Goldson saves he makes ,and gets away with ,how that was a penalty for us against Morton I’ll never know."

George Wilson, West Sussex, said: "All the Celtic supporters on here as well as Chris Sutton and John Hartson were calling for £20 to £25 million for Juranovic on the strength of one good game in the World Cup. Ryan Kent and Fashion Sakala tore him apart in the recent game and moved the decimal point to £2 or £2.5 million so if they get anywhere near £10 million it’s daylight robbery by Celtic."

Jamie Thompson, Clydebank, said: "I went through to Perth to watch Rangers play on a football pitch that was a disgrace. Clubs that have plastic and substandard pitches should be playing football in the second tier."
