Celtic could be tired as Motherwell hero urges former club to 'start with intent' against Hoops

Former Motherwell centre-back Stephen Craigan has urged Graham Alexander's team to start with 'high intensity' against Celtic this weekend.

Craigan made 360 appearances for Motherwell in his career and is now a renowned pundit within Scottish football. He has also worked as a coach and U20s manager at Fir Park, alongside stints as caretaker boss.

Motherwell host Celtic this weekend as they look to build on a strong start to the season which has them fourth in the Premiership.

Ex-Northern Ireland international Craigan believes that with Celtic having players on international duty all across the world prior to Saturday's Fir Park showdown, Motherwell may benefit from a fast start.

"Because a few of the Celtic players have been playing international games and Motherwell have been together the last couple of games, I’d really like to see them start with intent“, Craigan told Go Radio.

“Start with a really high intensity, try and force Celtic on to the back foot and see if the players have any fatigue or feel sorry for themselves because you’ve been travelling about, they haven’t had a full week’s training.

“I just hope Motherwell do not sit off and allow Celtic to try and dominate, go and get after the game.“

“Motherwell feeling good about themselves, but Celtic are on the back of that victory in Aberdeen before the international break

“They will want to back that up and make sure it is not just a one-off. Another away win is what they will be looking for.“
