Celtic 'considering' transfer swoop for Manchester City duo Ko Itakura and Taylor Harwood-Bellis

Celtic are considering a double swoop on Manchester City, according to reports.

Sky Sports claim the Hoops are keen on defensive duo Ko Itakura and Taylor Harwood-Bellis.

Ange Postecoglou is in the market for fresh recruits and could look at the centre-back and left-back from the English Premier League champions to beef up his defensive ranks.

Harwood-Bellis was on loan at Stoke City in the English Championship last season and has been capped by England at Under-21 level.

Itakura - who has been previously eyed up by Celtic - was in Germany with Schalke and while the German club have an option to make the deal permanent, it is reported they are struggling to pay the £6million agreed fee.

Celtic have a good relationship with the City Football Group and have brought in a number of players from Pep Guardiola's side over the years.

Patrick Roberts, Dedryck Boyata, Olivier Ntcham, Jason Denayer and Jeremie Frimpong are just a few who have all arrived from the Etihad in recent times.

It's set to be a busy summer for Postecoglou with fans desperate to see deals for Jota and Cameron Carter-Vickers over the line.

The duo hugely impressed on loan and are wanted for permanent transfers.

It's reported Jota will put pen to paper this week while Carter-Vickers has agreed personal terms.

It's now up to the Hoops and Tottenham to thrash out the deal before the contract deadline.

Champions League football is back on the agenda at Parkhead next term with direct entry to the lucrative group stages, following Celtic successfully regaining the Premiership crown from Rangers.
