Celtic confirm Preston North End game will see limited number of fans return to Celtic Park

Celtic have confirmed that 2000 fans will be able to attend their friendly against Preston North End.

The English Championship side travel to Celtic Park for Ange Postecoglou ’s first home match in charge of the Hoops.

And the club today revealed that 2000 supporters will be granted access for the game, with tickets being allocated via a ballot.

The game is being used by Celtic as a preparatory event ahead of the 2021/22 Scottish Premiership season and will therefore be independent of any future ballots for tickets.

That means supporters who are successful on this occasion won’t have their chances for future league games affected.

They will however, be ineligible to attend the scheduled meeting with West Ham United a week later to give others a chance.

A club statement read: "We’re delighted to announce the Club has been given permission for 2,000 supporters to attend our pre-season friendly match against Preston North End at Celtic Park on Saturday, July 17. This is the maximum number of supporters we are allowed to welcome back to Paradise presently.

"We are using this as our own preparatory event, under COVID-19 protocols, which will allow us to use and assess all areas of the stadium. Ticket allocation has been split among Season Ticket holders and Club contractual obligations.

"All Season Ticket Holders who registered their My Celtic Matchday application up until 5pm on Wednesday were included in the ballot, the process of which is now underway."
