Celtic confessions about Rangers as fans reveal what they actually love about their biggest rival

Supporters outwith the big two bubble in Scotland claim Celtic and Rangers have more in common than their followers would ever care to admit.

The taunt goes 'same a***, different cheek', but lovers of Glasgow's premier pair insist publicly they see no similarities while looking across the city.

But when you ask them under the comfort of anonymity - you soon find out there is more love on show than you would imagine.

Biggest rivals in football? More like best friends forever judging by these confessions.

Celtic and Rangers supporters won't give an inch publicly but it turns out they are happy to spill the beans privately.

Here's what Parkhead diehards have told Record Sport about what they actually like and admire about their sworn enemies.

What Celtic supporters actually like about Rangers

Players

"Much is made about how Celtic needed a better keeper under Martin O'Neill but if we had Barry Ferguson in Seville we would have won the UEFA Cup Final. Paul Lambert and Neil Lennon were great players but having a second player next to Stiliyan Petrov who could make runs from deep would have had the Special One Jose Mourinho greetin. I still bring this up to my mates when we meet but they don't think the same way."

"Celtic fans would love Alfredo Morelos, Edouard is quality but Morelos' charisma would grant him Parkhead icon status. He would have been brilliant in green and white. He's the modern day Artur Boruc and Rangers these type of characters give you an extra wee spark."

Souness has fans at Celtic as well it seems (Daily Record)

"If Celtic had Stefan Klos they would have won the Champions League the season after Seville. Think about it, the final four that year were Deportivo, Chelsea, Monaco and Porto. We had big Rab and Magnus Hedman and that's the only reason that we didn't make the knockouts."

"He's the epitome of a staunch, diehard Rangers man, and his arrival at Ibrox in the 1980s set in motion a decade of dominance, but I can't help but like Graeme Souness. He's one of my favourite pundits on Sky Sports, and always offers an insight into his own playing days, as well as being happy enough to slaughter one of his former clubs if they've not cut the mustard."

Music

Rangers songs appear a hit (SNS Group)

"I need to stop myself whistling to Follow Follow, it's annoyingly catchy."

"The Blue Sea of Ibrox is a brilliant football song, and the version from the band that was on A View From The Terrace is up there with the best football songs about."

"It's a song that immediately brings back memories of Rangers claiming trophy after trophy in the 1990s, but every time I hear Simply The Best, it ends up stuck in my head for days! The only way I can actually enjoy Tina Turner's dulcet tones is by picturing I'm nervously waiting in the Ibrox tunnel about to step out on the pitch and earn a result for the visitors."

Other

"I would love Celtic Park to have the location of Ibrox. I get cold thinking about the time I've marched from the city centre out to Parkhead. I get jealous of my Rangers mates and their tales of drinking in Partick before hopping on the subway. The key difference, however, is faithful Celtic fans would wait until the end rather make a run for the inner line when the teams are coming back out for the second half at Ibrox."

"The player trading model stuff Rangers are talking about doing this summer is basically what we've been doing with Van Dijk, Wanyama and Dembele but at least they've been clear with the fans. The biggest issue with us over the last few years has been muddled messaging. Give us it straight and worry about the reaction after."

"I feel a certain affinity towards Rangers and their supporters whenever I hear certain radio shock-jocks repeatedly telling us how poor the Scottish game is. Celtic and Rangers are two of the biggest clubs in Europe, never mind the UK, and some respect from certain pundits has been long overdue. There was talk of Rangers drawing Leicester, Arsenal or Spurs in this season's Europa League and I can honestly say that a fixture like that is one of the very rare occasions where I wouldn't mind seeing Rangers come out on top."

Stay tuned tomorrow to find out what Rangers supporters secretly love about Celtic
