Celtic clash food bank collection plea issued by Motherwell

Motherwell are asking supporters to donate to a food bank collection ahead of their Premiership clash against Celtic on Saturday, October 16.

The Fir Park club are collecting for the Lanarkshire Community Food Partnership and the Motherwell Food bank on the day of the game.

They ask fans to bring what they can, so that those in need can receive a food parcel.

In particular, they're looking for: long-life milk; tinned meat, curries stew, etc; tinned potatoes and vegetables; tinned fruit, custard, puddings; tinned soup or beans; pasta, rice, noodles, cereal; pasta sauces; jam; diluting juice, crisps and biscuits; toiletries for men and women, cleaning products and toilet roll, and pet food.

Drop-off points will be marked at the stadium for home and away supporters, and will be open before the match, with precise times advised by Motherwell FC.

Chief executive Alan Burrows told the club's website: "It is crucial that we continue to try and help people in need in our local community.

"We are all too aware of the need for assistance that many in our local area have. With many still feeling the impact of the pandemic, on top of other factors, it is important that we all step up to give what we can.

"We hope that fans of both clubs will step up and help us collect as much as possible."
