Celtic chief Peter Lawwell pictured returning to fire ravaged home to collect suitcases as probe into ‘deliberate’ blaze continues

Celtic chief Peter Lawwell has been pictured leaving his fire ravaged home with suitcases, a baby bouncer and his pet cat.

The boss has been forced to flee after three motors outside his Thorntonhall house were doused with an accelerant before being set alight at 1am this morning.

The terrifying inferno spread to the nearby garage property where it is believed his daughter and her four-month-old baby girl were allegedly sleeping.

The Parkhead boss returned to the badly damaged property on Wednesday evening to collect personal belongings alongside family members and security staff.

Cases of clothes were taken from the house by Lawwell while a pet cat was carried out alongside a baby carrier and bouncer.

Police Scotland earlier confirmed they are treating the fire raising as ‘deliberate’ after a thug was caught on CCTV pouring flammable liquid over the three cars.

They are keen to speak with anyone who may have dash cam footage from the area or who saw a silver or grey hatchback parked near the Peel Road property.

The suspect is described as white, around 5ft 10in, of a slim build and was wearing black jogging bottoms, a black hooded jumper with the hood up, black trainers and a face mask.

Detectives are also keen to trace a silver or grey hatchback car that was seen parked near the plush pad around the time of the blaze.

Detective Inspector Susie Cairns said: "This was a completely reckless act which destroyed three cars and caused significant damage to the property's garage.

“The consequences could have been so much worse but thankfully nobody was injured during this incident.

"I am appealing to anyone who was in the area at the time that saw a man or car matching this description or saw any unusual activity to please come forward.

"If you have personal CCTV or a dashcam, please check back and see if there is any footage that could assist our investigation.

“No matter how small or insignificant you think it may be, please get in touch."

Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101, quoting reference number 0134 of 19 May.

Alternatively, if you wish to remain anonymous, you can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
