Scott Brown has paid tribute to a Celtic superfan who recently lost her battle with breast cancer.
32-year-old Laura Cunningham passed away in her sleep on Sunday (June 6) after "tough and heroic" fight against the disease.
A well-known face on the Celtic circuit, Laura was a Hoops superfan and has been described as the "life and soul of the party", reports the Daily Record.
Last summer, she was invited to a meet and greet with her Parkhead heroes.
Last night Celtic captain Scott Brown sent out a moving tribute to Laura and message of support to her friends and family.
He said: "My sincere condolences to all of you.
"Laura will be looking down on all of her friends and family."
The 34-year-old skipper lost his younger sister Fiona to skin cancer in 2008.
Laura, from East Kilbride, documented her health battle on social media in a series of honest posts about her condition.
The optician was admitted to St Andrews Hospice in Airdrie at the end of April. Over time, she gained a large following of supporters - dubbed 'Laura's Army', with many paying tribute to her on social media.
Ethel Gardner said: "Laura knew Scott Brown understands and shared her pain and that’s what makes him my hero too!"
Another fan said: "God bless her and her family fly high."
One added: "Rip Laura your laugh was so infectious you’ll be sadly missed."
One said: "That’s very sad. RIP. Such a lovely young lady. So glad she got to meet Broonie. So sorry for her family and friends.
