Celtic captain Scott Brown fit for Hibs clash as clever self diagnosis provides timely boost

Celtic captain Scott Brown has declared himself fit to face his former side Hibs in this weekend's Betfred Cup semi final.

The midfielder went off with a thigh problem during the 2-0 win over St Mirren, but insisted he was substituted just as a precaution.

Speaking ahead of the cup clash at Hampden on Saturday, he said: "I'm OK. It was a little bit of a precaution.

"I'm at the stage where I know my body so we made that sub before something bad ends up happening. I managed to train today (Thursday)."

One player who is definitely out is striker Vakoun Issouf Bayo as Neil Lennon revealed he could require surgery with a possibility of the Ivorian being on the sidelines until next year.

That leaves the Celtic boss short in numbers up top with Odsonne Edouard the only recognised frontman fit at the moment.

Lennon has admitted he might need to dip into the transfer market to bring in attacking reinforcements, as a result.
