Celtic boss Neil Lennon provides updates on Kris Ajer injury and Odsonne Edouard's future

Neil Lennon has hailed his team's response to Europa League disappointment.

Celtic followed Thursday's 3-1 defeat against FC Copenhagen with a 1-0 victory over St Johnstone at McDiarmid Park in the Scottish Cup on Sunday, and Lennon was pleased to see his players get back on track.

He also provided updates about defender Kristoffer Ajer and striker Odsonne Edouard, with the former a fitness doubt and the latter expected to be offered a new contract according to French media outlets.

On his team's form, Lennon said: "We were really disappointed on Thursday night but we put in a really strong performance on Sunday and I think that shows the quality that the team has.

"We are all bitterly disappointed to be out of Europe, we wanted to make inroads after a great group stage, and we just let ourselves down in a couple of moments.

"But over the course of the season the players have been unbelievable. There is no way I would sit there and criticise any individual or the team as a whole because they have been absolutely brilliant and it's totally unnecessary."

Ahead of Celtic's trip to Livingston on Wednesday, Lennon said: "We are waiting on Kris Ajer to see how he is, he had a bit of a sore thigh."

Asked sked if he could comment on reports that Celtic are keen to offer Edouard a new contract, Lennon said: "I can't. I'd love to but that's from the French side of things and nothing from this side of the water."
