Celtic boss Neil Lennon on why Aberdeen are 'really tough' opponent right now as he eyes winning run

Neil Lennon believes Aberdeen are a "really tough" opponent for Celtic right now given the form Derek McInnes' men are in.

However the Hoops boss is confident his players can secure a positive result, and feels there's no reason they can't kick-start a big winning run at Pittodrie on Sunday.

Celtic come into the match after back-to-back defeats to Rangers and AC Milan.

However Lennon is backing his players to recover strongly, as they've done it all before.

He said: "They [Aberdeen] are in good form. They've won a lot of games already this season. They had a good result earlier in the week, scoring four early goals.

"So I'm expecting a really tough game."

On the significance of a victory to get back on track, he added: "It's really important. We don't want to drop any more points or lose any more momentum, so we're looking for a positive result and performance as well."

Lennon believes the noise around his squad at the moment is no different to what he experienced towards the start of last season.

He said: "It's no different from last season. We've lost a game. We lost a game against Livingston last year and our response was great.

"There are mitigating circumstances to why we lost the game so we're looking to get on a good winning run again and there's no reason why we can't."
