Celtic boss Neil Lennon on his love for Ibrox - despite mixed Rangers record

Neil Lennon admits that Ibrox is one of his favourite stadiums – despite winning there just once as Celtic boss.

The interim gaffer returns to Govan next week, seven years on from his last visit as Hoops boss.

That ended in a 3-2 defeat, one of two losses and two draws he racked up at the ground before Rangers’ liquidation.

In contrast, he never lost there in charge of Hibs, winning twice and drawing once.

But Lennon admitted: “It’s definitely different going there with Celtic than Hibs. It will also be strange not having that support at the back of the goal.

“But, you have to go and play the game, not the occasion, so the mindset has to be right.

“I like Ibrox as a stadium, believe it or not, and I enjoy going there. I look forward to it. It’s a nice stadium, I like that old-fashioned sort of traditional build.

“The pitch is always excellent and there’s obviously always a cracking atmosphere.

“It tests you – and you have to be tested in football, you have to be challenged and you have to be able to step up to that and thrive. That’s what I want my players to do next Sunday.”
