Celtic boss Neil Lennon mocks Steven Gerrard with 'irrational' jibe

Neil Lennon has again slammed Steven Gerrard as the fallout from Sunday’s derby refuses to go away.

The Celtic boss aimed a thinly-veiled swipe at his Rangers counterpart on club TV on Friday morning when he defended Scott Brown but stopped short of mentioning Gerrrard by name.

But he has not held back in the press-match press conference as he slaughtered his Glasgow rival.

Lennon insisted the Scouser has made only one rational comment during a week he accused Celtic of "playing the victim card" and Brown of provoking his Rangers players.

But the Irishman said: “The only rational thing Steven Gerrard has said this week is that they played the best team in the country on Sunday.

“We should be talking about our form since the turn of the year. The players play the game the right way and within the laws of the game.”

Lennon also branded the charges levelled at Celtic and Brown ridiculous.

He added: “I think it’s a trumped-up charge. I think it’s been concocted because of pressure from the media or elsewhere.”
