Celtic boss Neil Lennon gives Ismaila Soro transfer update as he reveals double injury boost

Neil Lennon has revealed his side's move for midfielder Ismaila Soro is close to completion.

The Bnei Yehuda star is undergoing his medical today as Celtic look to secure the £2m deal from the Israeli club.

And Lennon admitted he is keen to get the player into the club so he can begin to get him up to speed with life in Glasgow.

He said: “The paperwork on Sorro is still ongoing. He’s doing his medical at the minute, takes a day or two.

"Hopefully we can get him over here and get him cracking.”

Meanwhile, the manager had some good news about Israeli defender Hatem Abd Elhamed who has been struggling with injury in recent months.

He said: “The injury’s not as a bad as we first thought. We don’t know the length of time but not as severe as we first thought.”

And Lennon also revealed he's expecting Nir Bitton to be back sooner than expected after he hobbled off during the win against Partick Thistle.

He added: “He had a scan yesterday so should hopefully be a couple of weeks."

With Kilmarnock at Rugby Park on Wednesday night , Lennon knows his side will have to be at their best to break down what he expects to be a stubborn side.

“They are a tough nut to crack," admitted Lennon, "I think Alex will go back to the way they played previously.

"They had a good win at the weekend and the artificial surface doesn’t allow us to play the football we like, we are aware of that but looking forward to it.

“We’ve got a good strong core group of players that are winners and they won’t want to give anything up, so the second half of the season should be exciting.”
