Celtic boss Neil Lennon cranks up Rangers title heat as he insists Hoops have piled on the pressure

Neil Lennon insists Celtic have cranked up the heat on Rangers as they soared five points clear with victory at Hearts.

Ryan Christie and Olivier Ntcham sealed a comfortable Tynecastle victory to put daylight between Lennon's side and their Premiership title rivals.

Rangers travel to face Hibs on Friday looking to reduce the deficit ahead of a monumental derby at Parkhead on December 29.

And Lennon is content his side are doing all they can in the hunt for a ninth consecutive league crown.

Asked if the pressure was now on Steven Gerrard's side, the Celtic boss told BT Sport: "Yes, very much so.

"We did what we had to do so we can rest up for our game at the weekend."

He continued: "Overall, I'm delighted. Not just with the style of play but the body language of the team was good, the fitness levels were good.

"We're getting better. (The goals) were magnificent, both really difficult finishes.

"Ryan found the bottom corner and I don't know how he's done it. Olivier's finish is brilliant because the ball skips up and he controlled it beautifully.

"But Odsonne Edouard and James Forrest played big parts in the goals as well."

Lennon reserved special praise for Christie, whose clinically taken opener was his 17th of the season already.

The playmaker missed the weekend win over Hibs but slotted seamlessly back onto the left hand side of Celtic 's attack.

Lennon has moved Christie from a central role out to the flank at times but he's thrilled the 24-year-old is producing wherever he's asked to play.

"I've always admired him as a player. He's maturing into a top quality all-rounder.

"It's a great goal, he's got a great work ethic and he's a team player.

"Allied to that, he's got natural ability. I'm just enjoying working with him and I think he's really enjoying his football at the minute.

"We seem to be getting the best of out of him not matter what position he's playing in."
