Celtic boss makes confession over having to 'rely' on key Hoops star

Celtic manager Ange Postecoglou admits he's happy to have taken the attacking burden off Wishaw's David Turnbull.

The midfielder has only recently returned from a hamstring injury suffered in December's League Cup final victory against Hibs.

It came after a first half of the season where the Scotland international played every few days regularly for the Hoops, as they adjusted to a new term following a disastrous bid for 10 Premiership titles in succession.

Turnbull is on the bench for today's crucial derby with Rangers, which could move his side six points ahead in the title race. He has nine goals and seven assists from 35 games.

Postecoglou is happy to not be needing to lean on Wishaw's Celtic star: "When you think about what we’ve had to deal with this year and the position we’re in right now.

"We’ve proved to be a pretty resilient group of players. You can’t do that unless you have a really strong mentality and have tackled every challenge in the right way.

"No one can say this group of players has had an easy run at any stage this season.

“Whatever challenges we face, we’ll have options. It’s fair to say that in the early part of the season we had to rely on Kyogo and David Turnbull in an attacking sense.

“But right now we have multiple threats and multiple creative avenues.”
