Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou says star will return in 'a matter of weeks'

Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou says midfielder David Turnbull looks set to return to the first-team squad in "a matter of weeks", having been crocked since last month.

The former Motherwell kid hobbled off with a hamstring injury during Celtic's 2-1 Premier Sports Cup final win over Hibs on December 19.

Scotland international Turnbull, 22, has scored nine goals and has seven assists this season, so the Parkhead giants will be keen to get him back quickly.

Postecoglou said: "It's hard to put a timeline on it.

"But he's working hard in rehab and feels good at how it's going.

"It's a matter of weeks, rather than anything longer.

"But he played a lot of football in the first half of the season and he's probably one of the ones who suffered because of that.

"When he does come back we'll be able to balance it a bit more with the reinforcements we've brought in."
