Celtic blitz Rangers as rampant Hoops storm to four-goal derby victory

Celtic have won the first Premiership derby of the season against Rangers with a statement of intent 4-0 victory.

The Hoops were in a relentless mood and killed this one off inside 45 devastating minutes. Liel Abada opened up scoring early to get a sold-out home crowd rocking and it wasn't long before it was two, when Jota lobbed Light Blues goalkeeper Jon McLaughlin.

Just when Rangers thought they had suffered enough first half pain, Celtic ensured they piled on some more, Abada again getting in on the act to put this game beyond doubt before they even remerged from the tunnel for a more low-key second half. The only disappointment Ange Postecoglou's men were injuries to Carl Starfelt and Kyogo Furuhashi ahead of their Champions League match with Real Madrid but their rivals were left with much thinking to do after a dismal first defeat of the season.

It got worse for Ibrox boss Giovanni van Bronckhorst with a moment goalkeeper Jon McLaughlin will want to forget in a hurry.

He waited an age to pass out from the back and David Turnbull picked it off to put the ball into an empty net, finishing off scoring.

Celtic now look forward to welcoming the champions of Europe to Glasgow while Rangers must regroup ahead of facing Ajax.
