Celtic blast Nir Bitton trolls as they condemn sick abuse from 'faceless' individuals

Celtic have condemned the 'vile' abuse directed abuse towards Nir Bitton and his wife following the 1-0 defeat to Rangers.

The Israeli defender was sent off against the Ibrox side for a challenge on Alfredo Morelos. The game turned on its head following the decision as the Hoops would go on to lose the derby and find themselves 19 points behind their rivals in the Premiership.

Sick abuse was sent to his family in the wake of the match as his wife, Bar, detailed some of the vile messages on her Instagram account.

One said she and Nir should be 'hanged' while also directing abuse at her children.

She posted a screenshot of it and said: “Wow. 1 of many messages that I got from yesterday.”

The sick messages said: “Here you ya cow, you and yer husband deserve tae be hung on the streets.

*F*** you and yer wains.

“Mrs Bitton plz.”

Celtic have alerted police about the disturbing online messages and condemned the 'faceless and nameless' trolls for their actions.

A club statement said: “Celtic has forwarded this vile content to the police and considers that everything should be done to identify those responsible and that all appropriate action should be taken.

"Nir Bitton and his family have our full support.

“Let us be very clear, those responsible for such vile comments do not represent Celtic or Celtic supporters.

"They are faceless and nameless.”
